FOREIGN AGENTS TO TREAT LUNG CANCER UNVEILED

It is ironical that scientist who went in search of devising one new type of treatment for healing the pain inflicted on the patients due to lung cancer, ended up discovering some other type of curing method. But the most famous of them involves the injection of a specially made external curing drug into the human body with the intention of slowing down the dissemination of the vicious lung cancer cells inside an individual’s body. However, it is highly recommended that these treatments are performed by a highly trained professional with enough expertise and experience in handling injection based curing techniques for such a dreadful disease. This is because of the fact that even slight increase in the dosage level of those drugs will result in future complications for the patient accompanied by unwanted side effects. The major idea behind this method is that the injected drug should be able to trap those malignant cancer cells and at the same time reactive to a certain type of substance or matter like light, chemical, temperature. A recent invention of a new type of therapy known as Photodynamic Therapy is a very apt example that justifies the hard work of scientists for the past few years. This method basically involves an injection of a foreign agent into the blood stream prior to surgery. Apparently, this agent provides a strong attracting force for cancer cells and thereby traps them. At the time of treatment, a light of particular wavelength is applied to the region where tumor which is surrounded by those malignant cancer cells is present. This agent reacts with incoming photons to release a toxic material that will permanently damage the vicious cancer cells, consequently reducing the risk of death due to lung cancer.

A survey conducted lately by the volunteers of American Cancer Society revealed an appalling fact that lung cancer is topping the list of top ten cancer killers. This is undoubtedly an important issue at hand that needs high degree of attention by both government and researchers associated with the treatment of lung cancer. In fact, Indian government has invested nearly ten crores of rupees dedicated for developing equipment’s and curing techniques that will aid the doctors in counter attacking the rapid development of tumor in lungs due to smoking mainly. A result of such funding was the invention of an innovative treatment method known as Gene therapy for reducing the growth of tumor as well as control the rapid dissemination of carcinogenic cells inside the lungs of the patient’s body. Apparently, this method seemed only to be a dream even for a medical practitioner who has gained high degree of expertise and experience in lung cancer diagnosis. The basic strategy is to extract a random gene from lungs, examine it and accordingly inject another modified gene that has the ability to counterattack the spread of cancer cells.

It is a bitter truth that the number of people who had succumbed to death after suffering from an almost deadly disease like lung cancer has exceeded the death toll due to both breast cancer and blood cancer added together. Many countries have started investigating this need of the hour issue at hand owing to the fact that a lot of people are raising their voices on this sudden enhancement of death rate. Following which several millions of dollars were invested in coming up with a cheap as well as an effective solution to treat such a dreadful disease. Unfortunately, till date no such satisfactory treatment has been developed by the researchers as they are consuming a lot of time to show any improvement in the patient’s health condition along with the presence of some malignant side effects. However, researchers in the American Cancer Society recently found out an innovative method of inhaling a prescribed amount of drug powder into the lungs via breathing. This was initially performed on mouse and was found to be easier, efficient, free from side effects and cost effective.

This method supposedly originated from Scotland and comes in with plethora of advantages. For instance, it is totally free from any side effects and consumption in little quality has sufficient impact.
